Tickets go on sale on Earth Day, April 22, 2019

Art Hike: September 7 & 8, 2019
Where: NEW TRAIL/Lake Tahoe
When: Hikes start at 9:00 am and leave every 15 minutes
Theme: Blue
Rated: Moderate dirt hiking trail, some inclines
​Early Bird Tickets: $35 Adult/General and $10 for children ages 5 to 18

Specialty Guided Hikes, family, nature, mindfulness, leisure
• Family Hikes 10:00 & 10:15 a.m. 
   Family Hikes are designed for hiking with children with more of a relaxed   playful experience.  
* Naturalist Guides: 9:45 a.m. & 11:45 a.m. 
• Mindfulness Hikes: 11:00 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. ADULTS ONLY- Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts and surrounding environment.
• Leisure Hikes: 12:00 p.m., 12:15 p.m. Leisure hikes will offer a slower paced hike. More suitable for anyone that is in good physical shape, but may not acclimated to high elevation hiking. 

* Sorry no pets, cameras or cell phones on the art hikes. Time to unplug and enjoy art, earth, and sky. 

PLANNING YOUR ART HIKE EXPERIENCE
Art Hike: Sept. 7 & 8, 2019
Where: New Trail/Lake Tahoe
When: Hikes start at 9:00 am on Saturday and 9:00 on Sunday, tours leave every 15 minutes until 12:15 pm. 
Rated: moderate on a dirt hiking trail, some inclines and elevation gain

WHAT TO EXPECT
A 3 hour moderate hike with art performances and installations along the way.  How does this transpire?  You hike in small groups with an interesting guide.  Whether it’s Mother Nature (she’s there) or another one of our beloved volunteers, he/she will guide your way into a parallel universe with surprises along every turn. Treat yourself to a few well-deserved hours breathing in the fresh mountain air while embracing an experience like no other. We ask that you capture the experience with your heart and memories, so leave those little tech gadgets at home. Thank you!

Your purchase verifies agreement and understanding of Trails & Vistas Terms and Conditions. Bring your printed ticket to the event if you remember where you put it. We have a list with your name on it. 
1) NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES ON TICKETS, but you can gift your tickets to a friend, family...
2) ALL TICKETS HAVE A HIKING START TIME AND AN ENDING TIME, example 9:30 am (start time)- 12:00 pm (ending time)
3) CHECK IN AT LEAST 20 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR START TIME - remember to pack your water and a snack for the kids
4) NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO- a day to walk in-tune with nature. 
5) SPARKY SHOULD STAY AT HOME- the art hikes are a family-friendly event, but leave your pets at home. 
6) WE HIKE IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS- remember water, hiking shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, medications/EpiPen, snacks, smiles
7) RELAX, BREATHE, ENJOY! So leave your cell phone at home, camera at home, just come for a walk in the woods.

​Rick Ramos is a California Naturalist, Sierra Club hike leader at Group, Chapter and National levels, and an avid outdoorsman.  Growing up in Dutch Flat he acquired an intimate knowledge of our Sierra Nevada as he developed his passion for the outdoors – which has since had him traveling from Baja to Alaska. Same featured artists and art hike route.

Grace - simple elegance and refinement in every step reaching the point of effortlessness. Our awareness grows, opening up to our surroundings. The birds and sky above, the dirt and pine needles below our feet, to the performer right in front of us and all in nature.

Tom Archer is a man of many talents from being a real cowboy to his storytelling style of building community along the art hike trail. Tom's wife, Elizabeth Archer, the director from InnerRhythms Dance has been a collaborating partner since 2004.

  Kathleen M. Potter, MA, LMT: My speciality is inspired bodywork called Ortho-Bionomy (ortho-bionomy.org). I am passionate about hiking and astrology. I love to make people laugh and connect from the heart. 
Jane Carson: I walked across the country in 1986 and I love to walk in nature. I play tennis and pickleball and I hike daily to connect to my spirit. Come enjoy an arthike with me.

I love enriching my hikes with stories about the human history and natural history of Lake Tahoe. I want people to complete the hikes feeling connected to the local area. "After I retired I spent 5 years working summers as a Naturalist Guide for an Elderhostel Program at Squaw Valley and both Laurie and I work during the winter season leading snow shoe tours at North Star.  Laurie has a Masters Degree in Limnology (the study of streams and Lakes) and I have a BS Degree in Biology."

Shinrin yoku, Forest Bathing, is an open invitation to harmonize with nature. Experience a feeling of wholeness(integration) with a small group. All our senses are involved when we go on mindful walks, which also include moments to soak it all up, and observe our inner and outer landscapes.

​What to Bring/What to leave at home
• Bring water/ snacks / joy
• 2.75 mile hike will take 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete. Wear closed-toed shoes for walking
• Arrive 20 minutes before your hike start time for parking, check in, and restroom stop.
• Please carpool
• Bring cash or check to purchase artist goods
• Wear layers- chilly in the morning, warm sunshine in the afternoon.
Don't forget your water bottle! • Sorry, no cameras/cell phones: there is no photography or video. We will have a professional photographer taking photos to share with everyone on our website www.trailsandvistas.org
