Immerse Yourself in THE ARTS

Experience Art in Nature

This year’s theme is "borrowed landscape," shakkei (借景). In Japan, shakkei (借景) is the art of incorporating distant scenery, like mountains, trees or lakes to make an intimate space feel larger and more integrated with its surroundings. This technique uses elements like a strategically placed opening or a framing device to "capture" the background view.
This summer, Trails & Vistas' Artistic Director, Nancy Tieken Lopez, will be collaborating with over fifty artists to create a seamless blend between man-made elements and the natural world so that participants can connect to nature, connect to culture, as well as connecting with people and place.

Described as diverse and inspiring, Trails & Vistas Art Hikes blend art with the beauty of being immersed in nature.
