Biography

Emily Tessmer is a storyteller, who celebrates the power of the natural world, and who believes the spirit of man is inherently good. Music, her first love, continues to bring many fruitful adventures. Having 6 full length albums in her body of work, Emily continues to learn, grow with her songwriting and live performances on the trail and on the big stage.

Weaving pop melodies, world instrumentation and chants from indigenous cultures,  Emily Tessmer of Orenda Blu Music gently caresses the listener with her ethereal vocals. Her first release, “Sacred Chants”, received the silver medal for Best Inner Space/Meditation/Healing Music by the Coalition of Visionary Resources and has been mentioned on Public Radio International’s program ‘Echoes’.

Her second release, “Chants Of Love & Light”, features pop-infused chants from Japan, New Zealand, The Cherokee and Lakota nations, and other world cultures.  This CD was featured in the Daily Om and opened doors such as Prana Fest, Shakti Fest, and Bhakti Festival Of Hope In Ireland.

Summer 2019 welcomed the greatly anticipated release of Earthsong, which focuses on world instrumentation, and a return to Emily’s roots of songwriting and storytelling that venerates the voiceless, the trees and animals, first nations people and the invisible realms.

December of 2020 Emily earned her BA in Journalism and Communications from Sierra Nevada University. Photography, writing, and film are now some of her most valuable tools. Emily Tessmer's short documentary film, Walking With My Sisters is an exploration of local Native American culture and the decision by Squaw Valley to change its name. Emily continues as a creative force of good through music and film projects.

I am so grateful to have found the medium of film to create change and awareness on our planet during these times.-Emily Tessmer
