Art Hike: Sat., Sept. 7
Art Hike: Sun., Sept. 8
Providing soulful vocals and flamenco guitar for the Art Hikes, Seffarine's international blend of sounds features Moroccan singer Lamiae Naki and flamenco guitarist Nat Hulskamp. Their music embraces and extends Naki's rich heritage, spanning from Moorish Spain to the Sahara. Arabic Andalusi music is mixed with Manuel Gutierrez's explosive flamenco footwork, the grooves of acclaimed bassist Damian Erskine, and the exotic instrumentation of Persian master multi-instrumentalist Bobak Salehi. These diverse backgrounds meld into an intoxicating blend of ancient and modern music that Bass Player Magazine describes as a “gorgeous intersection of Spanish flamenco, Arabic and Andalusian music, Persian classical, and jazz.”
Recent recognition includes Top 20 World Music Releases, and Top 10 World Music Albums. They also received a Trails and Vistas award through an IMTOUR grant for this year’s World Concert and Art Hikes. “Seffarine is the real deal…each musician in the ensemble brings something unique and beautiful, from a lilting vocalist to an enchanting instruments to a flamenco dancer and percussionist, they held the audience captivated.” - Director of Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness
