Wenqing Yan, widely known as Yuumei, is a highly acclaimed Chinese-American digital artist, illustrator, and comic creator. Best known for her vibrant, anime-inspired style blended with semi-realism, she uses her platform to advocate for environmentalism and social issues. Yuumei graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Environmental Science, and now lives in Sweden. Her art often features glowing, dreamlike atmospheres and characters connecting with nature or rebelling against dystopian settings.
She is the author and illustrator of the popular cyberpunk comic series Fisheye Placebo, the fantasy comic Knite, and designs beautiful star and Koi fish lanterns for others to decorate. Her artwork frequently tackles themes of climate change, pollution, technology, and mental health.
